ASUS ROG RTX 5090 Astral Dhahab OC Edition Fashioned with Pure Gold; Cheapest Price is ~$6.7K

Not long after the launch of its "standard" Astral GeForce RTX 5090 (air-cooled) flagship card, ASUS ROG unveiled a gaudy golden alternative. According to a past weekend VideoCardz news report, the brand's extremely special "Astral RTX 5090 Dhahab OC Edition" has finally settled on retail shelves in the Middle East. During preview events, ASUS did not let slip any pre-release pricing details—industry watchdogs theorized numbers well above the regular "OC" version's (then) $3000+ tag. A Jensen Huang-signed specimen was auctioned off—for charity—during NVIDIA's GTC 2025 conference week. The latest investigations have unearthed varying costs of ownership; VideoCardz found listings across MENA (Middle-East and North Africa) territories.

The cheapest example was priced at $6700, while a "jaw-dropping" entry was discovered going for ~$10,600. The online publication's detective work concluded that price variations were dependent on differing conditions within each country. An ASUS-authored "Certificate of Authenticity" demonstrates the use of a key premium material; 6.5 grams of "999 Gold Fineness." Official grading indicates the very best purity of this precious metal—largely reserved (and prized) by prime Middle Eastern markets. ASUS is reportedly working on a (presumably) less expensive GeForce RTX 5080 variant—enabled via the selection of lesser silicon, rather than a downgraded level of decoration. Special edition ASUS ROG Astral enthusiasts—outside of MENA—could be eyeing up a DOOM prequel-themed option.

Man, ASUS has no idea what kind of features make a premium GPU more valuable than an ordinary one.

So far they tried the option of putting the signature of a very disliked person on one of these. As if that would entice someone to pay more for it.

Then the gold-plated option... wow talk about poor taste, guess it goes hand in hand with net worth.

Ok, ok let's try something different.
Yo ASUS, put a second connector on the card, that'll make it the most valuable and desirable model in the stack. Word! ;)

Why they dont charge 10k already, is too cheap, or maybe make a pure true gold and charge 100k, a diamond capacitor and charge 100 million. They only do stupid things like that because there are too many idiots who will want to buy.

Okay but like.... when you consider an Astral 5090 goes for ~$3k-3.2k, $6.7k isn't HORRENDOUS for a literally gold plated version... double the price for gold plated is actually not bad in terms of the increase.

In terms of the cost, though... yeesh, I spent less on my entire setup.

It's a bit like saying that a perpetual movement watch shouldn't be that expensive because it's accurate and less convienent than a quartz watch. It's not about the features, it's about the exclusivity. Computer gear has loooong stopped being a rational purchase, a huge bunch of the market became "I'll buy it because I can, and it looks fun". Computers are like cars.

I have nothing against eccentric embellishments, but I feel there should be a certain order to how things are done, in a professional manner of course.

Therefore a second connector should be present, not only would it represent higher quality & more reliability but also status, because the "peasants", even though they might pay more than $3500 for a regular 5090, they only get a single connector, which pretty much represents a cheap, disposable, unreliable product -> like a turd wrapped in gold foil.

And a $0,01 melting connector with $0,05 power design.

I can totally see them do two connectors on it and then just wire one of them to the GPU. And then they'll add monitoring so you can doubly confirm the one connector is working. Seems like a perfect match with the overall Blackwell design.
AGlezBNot going to ask your age but as a whole that statement smells to me of tenager mental diarrhea. Instead I'll ask you this: have you ever personally met any of those "unsavory people" you seem to know oh so well? Here is a fact for you: the average arab is nicer and more inclined to generosity and helpfulness than the average american as long as you don't make an enemy of them, because as pretty much everyone in the world knows, thery aren't cute when they're out to get you.
Arabs? This was never about ethnicity ;) This is about the botox-infused, yacht equipped, sun tanned elite that has a glass/gold/marble interior and dresses up everything and their five chihuahuas like its prom night. Thát's the target market here. They don't even game, but they'd probably buy this GPU just so they can tell you they have it.

Also, you've just insulted Arabians more than anyone in this topic by 'defending' something that was never attacked. Let's move on.
zenlessyankWow. I didn't know I was Arab, because I would drive the wheels off either one of those fine machines.
That moment when you have to switch from your Gallardo to the Jeep because you've just met a speed bump. I can totally see it!

Actually ASUS does. PC gaming has not been about gaming and has been about lifestyle branding since the early 2000s. ASUS was one of the first ones out there with stuff like AI (ASUS Intelligence at the time) life(style) branding on their products even back in the socket 939 days. ROG was their innovation and is strictly a lifestyle brand. If you are into PC gaming you aren't really into gaming, you're into a lifestyle branding asthetic entirely and the biggest brand fluffer out there that makes teen girls on tiktok look sane. Unless of course you are talking about the 90s and earlier. But if you started later? Yeah totally a brand fluffer.
